June 17, 2011 - Jim Bartholow
That's the sound of my Cleveland Indians' season as a June swoon drags on. Check out the Cleveland.com Web site and itwill tell you how bad the Tribe's offense has been. Manager Manny Acta says the team has to play well at home this weekend against the Pirates followed by the Rockies. it's hard to imagine them playing much worse. All that euphoria from April and May has fallen by the wayside. On opening day would I be happy with the Tribe a game out of first on June 15? You bet. But Cleveland's offense has gone into the deep freeze, exposing Cleveland's pitching shortcomings. I hope things turn around ... quickly. Today's another day.
MEDICAL NEWS I know this isn't unique, but I just wanted to say I had a colonoscopy June 13. everything came out fine (no pun intended). I'm glad just for the peace of mind. I'm also glad the next one is 5 years away. The procedure wasn't bad, it's that medicine they give you the day before that's nasty. Thanks to Leslie for putting up with everything Sunday and thanks to Dr. Hershey and Dr. Brockett and everyone at Marietta Memorial Hospital for making me feel good.
TSA EXERCISE While Blackhawk helicopters buzzed our air Wednesday we actually got a call from someone claiming to be in Idaho, who claims he read on the Internet that government people were pulling our citizens out of their homes. Sounds like a "B" movie plot or a summer replacement TV series. Have things in the nation deteriorated to the point that rumors like this gain traction in the minds of people? I hope not.
