As another year draws to a close you see a lot of stories outlining the most important stories of the year. Editors pick a lot of those lists, readers who vote via polls pick others. I thought it would be interesting to do a list that went by the numbers, using the analytics record of page views of MariettaTimes.com. Below a list of the most read stories on the website since the stroke of midnight on Dec. 31 of last year.
1. TSA conducting security exercise
This is a good example of a story that had a lot of traffic because other sizes, such as Google News linked to it. 17,170 total views.
2. 'Dance Moms' tramples kids' esteem
This blog by Erin O’Neil touched a nerve and likely benefited from links from external sites as well. Since she wrote it in mid-summer it has gotten 11,341 page views, many times more than a typical blog.

When tragic news happens many people from outside the area will turn to the site for information. There will be other examples in this list. This story was views 8,335 times.
