Marietta Garden Party returns Friday
May is tourism month and the season officially kicks off with the second annual Marietta Merchants Garden Party this Friday and Saturday.
“We were really excited when the merchants decided to expand the Merchants and Artists Walk to the second weekend in May,” said Kelly Blazosky, executive director of the Marietta and Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“In general, the Merchants Walk is well established and has gained in popularity,” she said. “We have people (from out of town) call and ask when the next event is because they have been in town when one was going on and they would like to come again.”
Tourists and residents alike have enjoyed the Merchants and Artists Walks, typically held on the second Friday evenings of June, July and August.
The Garden Party was added last year to the itinerary as a result of talks between the Riverside Artists Gallery, 188 Front St., and the Marietta Area Merchants Association.
