Warren ladies rout Vinton County 63-42 in Foundation game
VINCENT — After more than a sluggish start to their foundation game with visiting Vinton County the Warren Lady Warriors poured on the offense in the second half to take a 63-42 victory at Warren High School Thursday night. Trailing by four after the first quarter of play Warren began to find its shooting touch, outscoring Vinton County over the final three stanzas as the Lady Warriors were 26-of-42 from the field. “Our shooting was really on tonight. I thought we really shot well,” said Warren girls’ basketball coach Ryan Werry. Beginning the night at a slow pace the Lady Warriors found themselves behind as Vinton County went on an 8-2 run over the final four minutes of the first quarter. Vinton County freshman Caitlyn Owings deuce with 16 seconds to play in the period gave the Lady Vikings an 11-7 lead after one quarter. The Lady Vikings’ Tori Dixon connected on a two-point bucket 50 seconds into the second period for Vinton County’s largest lead at 13-7.
