At this stage of the game, you beat one good team only to have to play another. Such is the way the tournament trail has been for the Warren Warriors. Knock off a Fairfield Union team that had a habit of playing good teams tough to open the tournament and get No. 11 in the state Athens. Take down Athens on a last second shot by junior Austin Cunningham and get to face Washington Court House. Defeat Washington Court House with steady inside play from Grant Venham, Clay Ellenwood and company and now take the court against Logan Elm. That’s the fate that awaits the Warriors at 7 p.m. Friday night at the Ohio University Convocation Center in Athens. “It should be a great game. We’re looking forward to it,” said Warren boys’ basketball coach Blane Maddox. A great game is what the Warriors played in their last two tournament games, each time making key plays when they were needed to overcome some shaky shooting from the free throw line.
