'Jackets rally to win
PARKERSBURG — Just when it appeared that host Parkersburg Catholic would end eight years of frustration against arch rival Williamstown, junior Lane Knost picked off a Crusader pass in the Yellowjackets’ end zone and returned it 70 yards to set up what would be the winning touchdown in Williamstown’s 28-14 victory Friday night at Stadium Field. “They (Parkersburg Catholic) had run that play before so I thought they might run it again,” Knost explained. “I stayed back on that wheel route and he (Crusader quarterback Jason Williams) threw it right to me. It was like it was meant to be.” Junior Matt Hendrickson made the Crusaders, who dropped to 7-3 on the season, pay for the miscue, scoring from 5 yards out to culminate a six-play, 30-yard drive. Joe Palm’s third successful point after gave the visitors a 21-14 lead with 5:50 remaining to play. “I thought it was a big play,” continued Knost. “They were getting ready to score and it changed all of the momentum in our favor.
