Great summer vacation spots only a short drive away
BY CONNIE CARTMELL The Marietta Times ccartmell@mariettatimes.com "ARE WE THERE YET???" The car is fueled and ready to roll, the children all buckled into their seats. There is a cooler of sandwiches and juice drinks stashed in the back and all is "go" for a family summer adventure –– that long-awaited road trip. "I forgot Boo-Boo baby," a typical 4-year-old might say. No parent should be tempted ever to leave home without the necessary "comfort" gear. "We always take a few toys, small things they really like," Keith Robertson, 30, said of road trips with his 14-month-old twin boys. "My parents live about an hour away and once the boys get in the vehicle, they are fine." Before the boys were born, Keith and Sharon Robertson, of Fleming, enjoyed weekend trips. "We would go to Cincinnati, to the zoo or to a Red's game," he said. "Or we might go up to Amish country. We hope to take the boys to Cincinnati for a day or so.
