My hubby and I stop at travel centers when when we enter a new state. We coule look the stuff up on our smart phones, but it is not the same as talking to someone who knows the area and has pride in their state.

restrooms, vending and other facilities at the interstate rest stops will remain open to the public. So you can still pee and flee.

The small tourism building near Krogers doesn't seem to be open much, in fact it hasn't been open at any time I've been there. It's difficult to see, it's tiny, and I've never seen signage that indicates there is tourist information available at exit #1. Closure of the rest area may be good for the exit #1 businesses though, unless the people stopping just want to use the bathroom facilities..

To quote stiffy "it's about time" !! It should have never been opened in the first place.

We can't have everything. I wonder about those jobs. It's nice to hear the workers will be offered jobs in other areas, but I hope we're not "making" jobs. We won't save a dime that way.
