Chemical operators in demand locally

I agree that DuPont may want to shed some of their businesses, but the Washington Works makes products which are in demand, is welll managed and has a good workforce. That plant will be there for some time, but maybe it will be under new management. It was unforunate for the GE workers next door to have fallen under the leadership of Jack Welch. They were forced to step up and perform or lose their jobs. Drive past the old GE plant and see how that worked out.

The trouble with DuPont as a prospective employer is the reality the Company has been and is shrinking big-time. Ellen Kullman, DuPont Chieftess, wants to concentrate on the kitchen, corn, beans, and food additives. She is determined to ditch chemicals and materials. Only last week, the media reported DuPont Senior Management is looking to dump its big cyanide chemical business.

A shrinking conglomerates means a loss of jobs, loss of opportunity for professional and financial advancement. Or worse yet having your job exported to the Peoples Republic of China or India or Mexico.
