He was hitting her with the broom and should have been arrested as well.He obviously wasn't hitting her in self defense since he started the fight to begin with.He obviously has prior records of this type of behavior and his punishment hasn't been a deterrent.She should have left and made the necessary calls instead of knifing him and removed him from the property.Also,2 wrongs don't make a right,but he was suppose to be more mature than her due to his age and control his behavior more.

Too bad this girl's mother chose an SOB to marry--maybe this girl has tolerated his abuse for years and finally snapped. Hard for someone who was raised by decent parents to see her perspective. Even so, she should've just left and called the police.

At municourt some people get out on a PR bond for meth labs whereas others get 25,000 for verbal arguments. Makes no sense.

OK, to the liberal Mommys, the guy is a no good piece of crap, the 18 year old woman is in the same category, and the only criminal they left out is the 18 year old's Mommy. Why did she expose her daughter to this ill bred piece of trash and let him drag her down into his gutter??? I say lock all three of them up!!!

so he beat her with a broom, she defended herself by stabbing him, i remember a story not to long ago about a beating where a boy stabbed someone beating him and he was a hero for it not arrested, and she was arrested and now has a record? while he is walking around free playing the victim card? who cares if she is 18, who cares what the fight was over, fact of the matter is she does not deserve to be beat with any object for any reason and had every right to defend herself! she was probably in fear for her life, self defense! especially given his history! this story makes me sick. she should have been taken to the eve shelter not jail, and who said anything about her being on drugs, just because of her picture? she just got the crap kicked out of her! shame on you judgmental people. live her life!

Belmont, arguing over who takes out the trash or cleans up the kitchen is NOT an excuse to beat someone with a broom. What is wrong with you? I disagree with your asinine remark, but that doesn't give me the right to hit you. She should get her own place, but only so she can get away from a "man" who has multiple domestic violence charges and protection order violations.

I don't get it either! A MAN (well not much of one) is beating a female with an object causing harm and she can't fight back?

If an 18 year old doesn't want to carry out the trash at her step-dads house she should get her own place to live and let the trash pile up to the ceiling. On her next drug run he should change the locks on the doors.

What a dirtbag. He's a man. Probably bigger and stronger than she is. He's also got a lengthy record of violence, but she's arrested for defending herself in probably the best and only way she could. Kudos to her for standing up for herself. I'm sure it wasn't the first time he's hit her and she was probably sick of it.

This guy has been in the county jail 8 times..?? All for domestic/abuse/violence....??? Why was he out in the first place? obviously his run ins with the law have had little effect. Sounds like he's lucky she only got him the leg!
