Marietta and Belpre schools are going to get more money this year, and so far most of the comments are political mudslinging.

Perhaps this is why we don't get much money... we have no idea what is going on. Why waste the money on a bunch of people who are throwing hate at the very people who sign the checks they want very badly?

Seriously, guys, this is an article about school funding, not Democrat/Republican, Liberal/Conservative, Governor This/Governor That.

If we are so unimpressive that we can't hold a train of thought more than five minutes, how are we going to impress the check signers into giving our kids bigger checks?

My parents packed up the family and moved specifically to get us out of a lousy neighborhood and school system and relocate to a better one. Those who sit and complain without taking any initiative on there own get no sympathy from me. Kind of like waiting on your Obama phone to show up.

Most libs equate more money per student with better grades and education. That has been proven not to be true. Everyone who remarked here the Gov plan did not meet their approval did not seem to offer any suggestions on a better way to fund schools. In regards to better schools up north, parents have, for as long as I can remember, moved their families to get to better districts.

Lets take money from the richer districts and give it to the poor ones, you know, re-distribute. That would be the liberal thing to do.

I wonder how many here would vote for a school levy? Sounds to me like most of you would not since you expect someone else to pay for your schools.

I for one really don't care if these ungrateful, lazy, spoiled, misbehaving little brats have a school to go to or not. They can’t discipline them when they act up because you think your child is special and label them with a problem. Keep your little rug rats at home and you deal with them. It's free and we don't have to pay for the bus ride.

Yes, town hall with Andy Thompson and Debbie Phillips is a good idea,if we can get Andy`s lips unlocked from John-John`s career. But as you will see there are many residents who do not want public education funded, they simply want to take this nation back, back to the 19th centry.

Meanwhile, in the rest of the devleoped world, education is funded quite well, financial constraints are not a barrier to getting an education, and children there surpass ours in math, science, foreign languages, history and geogrpahy. I don't get it, but then again I graduated from here.

Consolidate, consolidate, consolidate! you can disagree with "gotta" b/c he speaks halve truths. New schools because of consolidations, PERIOD!!! Some were built ground up new w/o that because of growth.

This county does not need seven schools, seven boards, seven administrations, and lastley seven sets of tenured old guy/bags continuing for the check & not our children. Downsize this county! Keep the best of all the teachers, principals, and administrations. As for the school boards, fire; disband; release or whatever. Start over with all of them. It is time to forget self serving, the politics, & childish crap. Get in there & work for the benefit of the school child!

Thank God we didn’t build those fancy new schools at Warren. Time to sell off all that land they bought or build a nursing home on it.

I hope to the Lord above that local residents can see that Mr. Ka$ick has no clue how to fix school funding.

Mr. Thompson even though he is a dicipline knows this plan is WRONG.

SE Ohio is just a place to drive through on the way to Myrtle Beach.

They have NO concept of what we need in this area.

Schools, local governments, health departments, fire and EMS services, Childrens Servicess, all suffer and we keep putting levies on to further TAX ourselves, and he( in the smallest letters imaginable) continues to stuff his coffers full.

WHY???

Andy how about a town meeting so YOU can explain it all to all us ignorant folk down 'ere in SE hi-ah.

SUPRISE!!!!,SUPRISE!!!!,SUPRISE!!!!, John-John forgot about Southeast Ohio, the area that brought to Columbus unconstitutional and inequity in funding over 20 years ago. Here is the kicker, if districts pass local levies, they are penalized part of that 5,700 dollars per pupil funding. I ask local supt.s are you going to lie down and let John-John shine hie Italian loafers on your ribs, or are you going to fight this, for over 20 years you have assumed fetal position, should citizens expect more of the same. When the schools are closed, what the powerful want, it will be too late.

Does this really surprise anyone? SE Ohio receives very little funding. IF you go anywhere above Zanesville, there are new schools, remodeled schools, and they are expanding courses. Here, we can't get money to even fix our schools. I visited on school last month, a public school, each child had their own IPAd to use. The school BOUGHT them this. We are lucky to have text books for each child that are less than 10 years old. Bigger school districts do not have to pay for busing. If they do, it is a small radius. OUr districts spend a good percentage of their budget on busing. What is even more ironic? Teachers in these wealthier districts get paid around 20000 more a year than ours do, get money to spend in their classrooms, and get the opportunity for more professional development. Our districts our broke! I will never even consider voting for Kasich. MR. Thompson, if you want to stay in office, you'd better figure out a way to represent us. This is not fair!
