Well Mr. Ketelsen definitely has a case. Minks accused him of taking the medications even after Ketelsen was found NOT GULITY. No matter what, this whole issue should have gone to an outside Agency. Not only was Mr. Ketelsen a superior officer, but had almost 27 years under his belt. I encourage all of you to go back and watch the video stream posted within the article, specifically between the 13 and 15 minute mark. Go get em Mr. Ketelsen!!!

If the retired officer wants the permit, it is strange he is not getting it. What kind of problem would it be, unless the sheriff has it in for this officer. Yes I have read the postings on this , it sounds like splitting hairs. It a permit to carry, what most retired cops do . Unless he thinks this man is unstable, why not just issue the thing. I also think the Mr Ketelsen has a case. He was found not guilty, after the sheriff called him a thief, it should get interesting.

Can be issued doesn't mean has to be issued. And this seems to be bordering on an obsession, not healthy!!

You can't fault a person for having more knowledge than others. Particularly when one has more experience with a topic and certain people than others. My apologies for that. I only speak from experience.

Let me break it down for ya ASKNOT. This is actually copied from the source Ohio Revised Code.

Who gets a retired ID

*Any person who retired from service as a peace officer and meets the following qualifications can be issued a retired peace officer identification card: *Retired from an agency that employs two or more peace officers. *Retired in good standing. *Was authorized to carry a gun for the performance of duties. *Was regularly employed as a peace officer for an aggregate of 15 years or more. *The retirement was not for reasons of mental instability.

Source: Ohio Revised Code.

Do some research and you'll see Jack Brum is actually deserving of an ID Card. Once again, just Larry Mincks not being a good sheriff because of personal issues.

I absolutely agree with mattelliott. Yet ANOTHER time Larry Mincks does one of his fellow officers wrong, due to personal issues, and it'll all disappear and get sweep under the rug. Amazing how that happens. Even more amazing the quality of officers that have been forced to retire or leave: Stephens, Brum, Canavan, Ketelson, Alkire, Wilson, Winstanley, Hall?? Good job Mincks... Get rid of all the good guys that stand up for whats right and you can poorly run the SO to your liking. Pretty easy to figure out if a person actually knows what goes on down there and doesn't let the wool get pulled over their eyes. The homeless guys in front of walmart would do a better job as Sheriff. Guarantee he is more honest.

Take a minute and read ORC 2923.126 section (F) (1) and(2).Ohio law claerly states Minks has to issue an id card to Brum.

Wtfmate - It is my understanding after talking to some members of the sheriff that Brum retired from the WCSO but has not taken full retirement from the FOP. Therefore he is not fully retired and not eligible for the permit yet.

He has been asked by Mincks to come in and discuss why he is not issuing the permit, but Brum refuses to come in to discuss it.

As already stated, get your concealed carry from Florida and you are good most places.

I don't understand why mincks won't just give this guy a peace officer permit so he shuts up already. It may not be a law, but he has no real reason not to.. And if an authority figure were to slander my name, well I'd sue him too. I have no confidence in the officers of the law, the prosecutor, or judge lane however. I think they're all in cahoots to have it their way.
