I am also a Barnett, and into genealogy. When I first started my family research, I located some of Glen Barnett's information that was posted online, and for over a year, expanded on what I had found. Problem was I later discovered an error in his work that nullified over a thousand names in what I had worked on. I had tried to contact Glen to let him know, but he had since passed. It seems that most of what I had found that he had posted could be supported, but the name linking my Barnett's to his, William Barnett, was wrong. My Barnett's appear to have settled mostly in Guernsey County, and I find no link to Virginia. I don't fault Glen for the error, as we all make them. I do use it as a reminder to those of us doing research to check sources and document everything!
