By the way. It was harder on me to wean my son than it was for him. Nursing nurtures a very strong bond between mother and child. There's something about knowing that everything your child needs to live, and grow is being provided by you alone. Knowing that bond, I would be upset if weren't able to nurse. When it was time to wean, he took pasteurized goat milk. After doing research, I learned goat's milk is the closest thing to mother's milk, making it easy to transition to and digest.

I nursed my son until he turned 1 year old. It only makes sense that mother's milk is best for a child. Cows don't give birth to humans, how did we come to think formula made from cow's milk is the right thing to feed them? Anyway, I disagree with all the comments about how women should be able to feed whenever, where ever and however they choose. When I nursed, I did so privately, and discreetly out of respect for other people. If we were away from home, I nurse in the car, with a light blanket covering me and my son. At church, I found a private room to nurse, again covering up. It's called being considerate, so put aside your pride, get off your high horse, become considerate, and be discreet. You might get a little more understanding and support if you weren't so arrogant about it.

Yes, for many mom's breast is best, but for babies, it is always the best. Human breast milk is the best nutrition for human babies and skin to skin bonding is an experience neither the mother or child can fully get with a bottle. I know some mom's can't for various reasons, but if you can, I highly recommend it! I'm an older woman, but have vivid memories of breastfeeding my children, and of being banished to a restroom to feed my baby. My mother-in-law was embarrassed by me feeding a baby in a restaurant, very privately I might add, with a blanket covering me and the baby.

I've seen more skin showing on women in the grocery store, the mall, the park and just in every day activities than this mother is showing while nursing her son. If this picture offends anyone they might as well not leave their house or be on the internet. EVER! It's really nice to see women out there promoting breastfeeding. It is a natural, healthy and beautiful thing for the baby and the mother. I am proud to say I still breastfeed my 15 month old son. We would be there helping you ladies break a record if we were in town that day. Good luck!!

It's so great to see breastfeeding being promoted and supported in the area. Rock on mamas! I wish I was still nursing to join in. To anyone offended - you need to get in touch with your body. We are not solely sexual beings and there is nothing offensive about a mother nourishing her child as nature designed. Our bodies are amazing, and the female body is designed to sustain the lives of our children. We are not meant to hide in our homes, be banished to restrooms or feed our children when it is convenient for others. It's a sad society that we live in, when we have come so far away from the truth of our nature and history.

Good grief! Grow up and get your minds out of the gutter. If anyone takes offense to a mom breast feeding her child, than that person has a sick mind and underlying issues that need to be dealt with. Add to the other wonderful benefits stated in the article that breast feeding provides for the child, there is also the incredible bonding between the baby and mom.
