West Virginia University at Parkersburg is a regional campus of West Virginia University. The Parkersburg campus is a community college which serves as a higher education center offering students a blend of certificate and associate programs as well as select bachelor's degrees. WVU Parkersburg is the only community college in West Virginia accredited to offer baccalaureate programs. It is the fifth largest public institution of higher education in West Virginia.
WVU Parkersburg began as a branch campus of WVU in 1961, became one of the first comprehensive community colleges in 1971 as Parkersburg Community College, and was redesignated as WVU Parkersburg in 1989. The college serves seven counties in west-central West Virginia: Jackson, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Tyler, Wirt and Wood.
