He was born May 17, 1933, in Racine, Ohio, a son of Russell and Seva Beaver Cline. He retired from Interlake Steel/Globe Metallurgical after 37 years as a chemist and quality control manager. He graduated from Racine High School in 1951 and received an associate degree at Marietta College. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and Sons of the American Revolution. He was a pilot and loved to fly. He also enjoyed traveling abroad. He enjoyed woodworking, making muzzleloaders and making wine. He was also an avid photographer.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and is survived by his wife, Margaret Martin Cline, whom he married on Sept. 25, 1952; one son, Jim Cline of Fairfax, Va.; two daughters, Sue Martin and husband, Ryan, of Beverly, and Darla Byrd and husband, Veral, of Beverly; six grandchildren, Chris (Christina) Cline, Becky (Dave) Chesnes, Matthew (Cyndi) Martin, Andrew (Melissa) Martin, Bethany Martin and Alyssa Martin; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Cline and wife, Lois, of Waterford, and Carl Cline and wife, Betty, of Mason, W.Va.; and one sister, Patricia Collins of Longbottom.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Bumgardner and Grace Holsinger; four brothers, Dave Cline, John Cline, Richard Cline and Carol Cline; and an infant brother and sister.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (May 11, 2008) at the Waterford Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Karl Kesselring officiating. Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery with military services at the grave. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly.
Memorial donations may be made to the Waterford Church of the Nazarene building fund.
