In an article in Wednesday’s edition of The Marietta Times, city fire Chief Tom Dempsey quoted rules from the Ohio Administrative Code that require adequate staffing of municipal fire departments.
Incorrect information appeared in the article.
Also, the total number of fire and emergency calls has fluctuated over the last few years.
According to Dempsey, the department responded to 2,872 calls in 2004, 2,663 calls in 2005, 2,744 in 2006 and 2,669 in 2007. He said emergency medical responses are decreasing year to year due to a growing number of private ambulance services in the area.
The Times regrets the errors.
