- In Monday’s edition of The Marietta Times, an individual discussing the Warren Local School District Board of Education’s decision to close Bartlett and Cutler elementary schools said three secretaries were employed in the superintendent’s office. The office has one part-time secretary, but the district also employs a records control officer and central registrar for the Education Management Information System.
The woman also said the district should have cut an assistant superintendent’s position. Superintendent Tom Gibbs has said such cuts will be examined after the schools are closed.
Another person said that because of rising gas prices, the consolidation of bus routes could cancel out any money the district saves by closing the two schools. However, the district has said consolidating bus routes is expected to save $10,000.
The last day for students at Bartlett and Cutler is Monday, June 2. The last day for teachers is Tuesday, June 3.
The Times regrets the errors.
