By the numbers, a look at the 2007 and 2008 area prep/college football seasons.

0: Wins Parkersburg South (0-10) had in 2007; returning starters Marietta High opponent Hilliard Darby has on offense going into 2008 season; losses that Bill Stewart (1-0) owns as a head coach at West Virginia University.

1: Number of high schools (Belpre) in Washington County that advanced to the Ohio playoffs in the fall of 2007.

2: Number of former Marietta High football players competing at the NCAA Division I level (Justin Estes and Robbie Spencer); Ohio State's 2008 preseason AP ranking; Consecutive Class AAA (W.Va.) titles Parkersburg High has claimed going into 2008 season; number of Marietta Black brothers (Nate and Luke) playing at Fairmont State University this fall.
