Jahn-Busse
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jahn of Marietta and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Busse of Cincinnati announce the marriage of their children, Melissa Jayne Jahn and Steven Thomas Busse, on June 21, 2008. The ceremony was held in the historic 5Mile Chapel in Cincinnati.
The bride's son, Josh, presented his mother in marriage, along with his grandfather.
A reception followed at the office of The Nerd Patrol, the bridegroom's business.
The couple are residing in Cincinnati.
Hickel-Akers
Heather Ann Hickel and David Andrew Akers were united in marriage on June 7, 2008, at East Muskingum Park in Marietta. The Rev. David Walters officiated for the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Sharon Hickel of Coolville, Ohio. She is the granddaughter of the late James C. and Velma Hickel and Shirley Boggs of Coolville, and the late Robert D. Boggs.
The bridegroom is the son of Diane Akers and David C. Akers of Parkersburg. He is the grandson of Robert and Geneva Johnson of Parkersburg, and the late Ray and Byeanna Akers.
The bride and her father arrived at the park in a 1948 Packard. The bride wore a white satin, strapless A-line gown that featured a lace bodice covered with pearl accents, a chapel train, and a sash worn around her waist with a brooch. Her headpiece was a shoulder length veil. The bride carried a bouquet of pink hydrangeas, peonies and roses.
Matron of honor was Amy McCleary of Parkersburg. Bridesmaids were Kimberly McGinnis of Vienna, W.Va., Patricia Ross of Washington, W.Va., and Anna Akers of Parkersburg. Each wore a knee length light pink spaghetti strap dress with a hot pink sash at the waist.
Flower girls were Madison Showalter and Abby Akers of Parkersburg, the bridegroom's nieces.
Groomsmen were Jason Gunn of Chicago, Ill., Todd McGinnis of Vienna, W.Va., and Nathan Eagle and Matthew Brocious of Parkersburg.
Guests were greeted by Tara DeBarr of Davisville, W.Va.
A reception followed at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta.
The bride is a graduate of Franklin University in Columbus with a bachelor's degree in health care management and is employed by Marietta Memorial Home Nursing and Hospice as the business office manager.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism science and is employed by United Bank in Wealth Management.
After a honeymoon to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple are residing in Belpre.
