People of Faith: Event planned for pastor who is retiring after 40 years of ministry

A special retirement celebration for Pastor Hazel Life, who has retired after 40 years of ministry at Full Gospel Temple in Little Hocking, is planned.

The congregation invites the community to attend the celebration, which will be held Saturday, May 16, at Full Gospel Temple, 39 Veto Road (Veto Road and Ohio 555), Little Hocking. Dinner will be served at noon, with a special Honor Service for Life to follow.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to the Rev. William Mosier at (937) 336-1970 by May 13.

Church anniversary will celebrate its 45th

North Hills Baptist Church will be celebrating its 45th anniversary on Sunday, May 17.

Bob Bieke, Muskingum Valley associational missionary, will be the speaker for the morning service at 10:45 a.m. A dinner will be provided for everyone after the service.

North Hills Baptist is at 108 Stonecrest Drive, Marietta.

OVU's new traveling performing members

Ohio Valley University in Vienna, W.Va., has announced its new 2009-2010 members for the traveling performing group, Ambassadors.

The Ohio Valley University Ambassadors is a six-member Christian drama/improvisational theater group that annually tours the eastern United States performing more than 100 shows a year at venues such as at youth rallies, camps, retreats, workshops, meetings, banquets, festivals, churches and schools.

New members include Frederick Chamberlain, a sophomore, from Marietta; Bethany Miller, a sophomore, from Xenia; Hillary Miller, a freshman, from Cambridge; Mike Pinkstaff, a freshman, from Ormond Beach, Fla.; J.T. Spivy, a junior, from Vienna, W.Va.; and Maria Warrell, a sophomore, from Levittown, Pa.

The Ohio Valley University Ambassadors are under the direction of Erin Kahoa, director of theater at Ohio Valley University.

Originally formed in 1981 as The Pied Pipers, a children's theater troupe, the group mainly performed at local churches and elementary schools. In the mid 1990s they were renamed the Ambassadors and the group continued performing children's theater, along with Christian drama. In the late 1990s the group moved to performing Christian drama and improvisational.
