Stacy Michelle Ball and John Stephen Dobbs were united in marriage on Oct. 18, 2008, during an outdoor ceremony overlooking the 18th hole at the Providence Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. Chaplain Phillip L. Hunter of the U.S. Army officiated for the evening ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Skip and Christina Detter of Indian Trail, N.C., and Robert Jr. and Farrah Ball of Lowell. She is the granddaughter of Jean Eshelman, Joe Stacy and Robert Sr. and Evelyn Ball, all of Marietta, and the late Norman Eshelman.
The bridegroom is the son of Steve Dobbs of Lyndonville, Vt. He is the grandson of Pat Dobbs-Harper of San Diego, Calif.
The bride was escorted down the staircase by her father, Robert Ball Jr., and down the aisle by her stepfather, Skip Detter. A memory candle at the altar was lighted by the bride's grandmother.
The bride wore a strapless gown of ivory matte satin with a sweetheart neckline and basque waistline trimmed with embroidered lace, crystal bugle beads and clear sequins; a bodice with an empire ribbon accent and a matching band at the hemline of her full A-line skirt; and a chapel length train.
Maids of honor were Alicia Triantis and Chastity Jones of Indian Trail, N.C. Bridesmaids were Megan Jones, Amber Manley and Tiffany Simpson of Charlotte, N.C., and Kristi Brannon of Winston-Salem, N.C. They wore black halter style gowns with a wide band of fuchsia ribbon at the bodice.
Flower girl was Jamie Rae Feller of Buckeye, Ariz. She wore a fuchsia gown.
Best man was Daniel Haynes of Matthews, N.C. Groomsmen were Gavin Pruitt of Morrow Bay, Calif.; Troy Simpson of Charlotte, N.C.; and Brandon Collins of Columbus, stepbrother of the bride. Ushers were Corey Detter of Indian Trail, N.C., and Bobby Ball of Lowell, brothers of the bride.
Ringbearer was Harrison Detter, cousin of the bride.
Guests were registered by Gabriella Stacy of Mokena, Ill., cousin of the bride. The greeter was Daniel Detter of Matthews, N.C., the bride's stepbrother.
The couple received special wishes from the bridegroom's brother, Tim Dobbs, who is serving with the U.S. Air Force in Okinawa, Japan.
A cocktail reception on the outdoor balcony was followed by a buffet dinner and dance in the Carolina Ballroom of the country club. A disc jockey provided music during the evening.
The bride is a 2008 graduate of the University of North Carolina Charlotte with a bachelor's degree in nursing and is employed at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo., as a surgical orthopedics nurse.
The bridegroom is serving his fifth year in the U.S. Army and is currently stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
The couple plan a delayed honeymoon to Antigua in the summer of 2009. They currently reside in St. Robert, Mo.
