Country gospel group to be featured
A "Country Gospel Review" with Jim Blair and the Southern Gospelaires is being held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Williamstown Church of God.
Also featured will be Freddie Baker, Randy Sidwell and Dan Bray.
There is no admission charge; a freewill offering will be taken.
Church plans annual festival and picnic
The annual festival-picnic of St. John's Church is being held Sunday, Aug. 2, at the church on Ohio 145, Miltonsburg.
Country style chicken and beef dinners will be served from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The dinner includes homemade noodles, dressing, fresh vegetables from the garden and beverages. There will be games, food and refreshments all day.
There will also be a dance from 8 to 11 p.m. that evening with music by the Chuck Monticello Band.
Homecoming picnic at church in Carlisle
St. Michael's Catholic Church in Carlisle is having its annual homecoming picnic on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Homestyle chicken and beef dinners will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Carry-out will be available.
There will also be bingo in the afternoon and evening, and a square dance from 8 to 11 p.m.
Carlisle is two miles east of Ohio 78 on Ohio 260, 10 miles east of Caldwell.
Pastor plans session on Centering Prayer
The Rev. Vinny McKiernan will be at Sacred Heart Retreat House in Torch on Tuesday, Aug. 4, to lead all who wish to learn about Centering Prayer.
The session will begin at 9 a.m. and end about 11:30 a.m. Participants should register by Monday, Aug. 3.

Homecoming for Cutler Chapel Aug. 2
Cutler Chapel United Methodist Church will be celebrating its annual homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 2, at the church on Washington County 3 (Veto Road), two miles west of Ohio 7 above Belpre.
Sunday school will be at 10 a.m., followed by the church service at 11 a.m. A potluck lunch will be served at noon with meat and rolls provided.
An afternoon program will begin at 1 p.m. with special music by Jim Blair and family.
Extreme Mobile to be at area church
The Extreme Mobile will be at the Broadway Church of the Nazarene, 901 Broadway Ave., Parkersburg, on Sunday, Aug. 2.
People will be able to tour the Extreme Mobile, which is a converted tractor/trailer with three rooms that are replicas of cities in Peru, and a fourth room that contains information.
The schedule will be Sunday school classes from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with the morning service from 10:30 a.m. to about 12:15 p.m.
After the morning service, additional tours will be held until 1:30 p.m. Tours will also be held of the Extreme Mobile from 4 to 6 p.m.
The evening service will be 6 to about 7 p.m. with an "Extreme Emphasis." Final tours of the Extreme Mobile will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Homecoming for area church/school
The Oakland United Methodist Church/Roxbury School at Johnson Ridge Road in Stockport will be celebrating its homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 2.
The morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rick Bennington as the speaker.
A potluck lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. in the grove. There will also be a business meeting and singing at 2:30 p.m.
Nazarene church to host 1st 'Biker Day'
Marietta First Church of the Nazarene will be hosting its first "Biker Day" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 25, on the church grounds at 100 Mill Creek Road.
The event is open to the public and all motorcycle riders are encouraged to bring bikes and to participate.
Cost to register is $10 per bike with the first 100 bikes registered to receive a free vest pin. There will be judging and trophies for bikes in 18 categories with four additional "choice" awards to be presented. There is no cost for those attending and not entering a bike.
There will also be musical entertainment by Jason Feathers and others, inflatables from Time Well Wasted, a cornhole tournament, free popcorn and sno-cones, door prizes for bike show participants and a food booth.
Parking for cars is available at and near the church. Those attending should bring lawn chairs.
