The Children's Department at Marietta First Church of the Nazarene, 100 Mill Creek Road, Marietta, is sponsoring a free family movie night at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, in the church's Family Life Building.
Those attending are asked to bring their "first mates," their "cabin boys and girls" and their "plank walkers" and join the fun as the evening begins with a showing of the movie, "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything."
Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets and to join the "crew" for an evening of family fun that will include a movie, popcorn, cookies and drinks. Nursery care will be provided for children age 4 and under if needed.

Free picnic planned after 'Biker Sunday'
"Biker Sunday" will be observed at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Inman-Liberty Park behind Tunnel United Methodist Church.
The service, which is being sponsored by Tunnel and Warren Chapel United Methodist churches, will feature Ed Moore and members of Crossroads Motorcycle Ministries of Bristol, Ohio.
After the service there will be a free picnic at 11:30 a.m. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Tunnel Church's multi-purpose building.
Tunnel United Methodist is located just off Ohio 550, about five miles west of Marietta.
Assemblies of God missionary to speak
River of Life Assembly of God at 200 Franklin St., Marietta, will be having Alex Humphreys as guest speaker on Sunday morning, Aug. 30.
The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a potluck dinner to follow the morning service.
Humphreys grew up in Marietta during the 1980s before moving with his parents, Rick and Gwen Humphreys, to Cincinnati.
Humphreys is now an Assemblies of God missionary to Japan. He and his wife, Kathryn, are currently preparing to return to Japan next May so they can be senior pastors of a Japanese church in downtown Tokyo and help plant a new church outside Tokyo at the same time. The couple are expecting their first child, a girl, in about three months.
River of Life Assembly of God invites the public to join them in welcoming the couple back to Marietta.
Community service, picnic Sunday are free
A free community service and picnic are being held Sunday, Aug. 30, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Dalzell Community Building on Dalzell Road, Whipple.
The service will be followed by free food, games and entertainment.
The event is being sponsored by Lower Salem United Methodist Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
