Deans of students and other student development officers from Christian colleges and universities around the country met Oct. 17 to 20 on the Ohio Valley University campus in Vienna, W.Va.
The annual Christian Professionals in Student Development Conference brought together representatives from Abilene Christian University, Faulkner University, Freed Hardeman University, Harding University, Lubbock Christian University, Oklahoma Christian University, Ohio Valley University, Pepperdine University and York College.
"Early Intervention" was the theme for the conference. Sessions focused on increasing student success by identifying warning signs and applying appropriate strategies on a timely basis.
"We also talked about follow through," said Kathy Muller, Ohio Valley's recently appointed dean of student support. "Setting up and maintaining a system of monitoring the progress of students at risk is absolutely vital," she added.
"OVU is very pleased to host this event this year," said Jason Dougherty, OVU dean of students. "I appreciate my fellow student development officers being with us on campus for a few days during our school's golden anniversary year."
