Event set for Dec. 4 at Fellowship Baptist Church on Rosemar Rd.

November 28, 2009
From local reports

Christian recording artist Janet Paschal will be featured in a musical Christmas worship event at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Fellowship Baptist Church at 3300 Rosemar Road, Vienna, W.Va.

This Christmas concert event is being presented by JOY FM/WPJY Radio.

Paschal, who grew up in North Carolina, has been singing gospel music for the past three decades. For the past decade she has been featured on the popular Gaither Homecoming Video and Concert Tour.

In May 2007, the Gaither Gospel Series released "The Best of Janet Paschal" in DVD and CD format. The project includes many favorite songs made popular by Paschal that have been included on the Gaither Video Series over the past decade.

"Treasure" is the latest release by Paschal, who has more than a dozen recordings to her credit.

Her recordings have been recognized with many Grammy and Dove Award nominations, and she is consistently named among gospel music's favorite soloists by the genre's top trade magazines.

Most recently, her latest radio release, "Hide Me Sweet Rock Of Ages," peaked at the Number One position on southern gospel music's most recognized national radio airplay chart, published in The Singing News Magazine.

After battling breast cancer in 2005, Paschal resumed her touring schedule, including concerts, women's conferences and cancer awareness events. In November 2008 she released a new book, "Treasures of the Snow," which chronicles her triumphant battle with cancer and stories from three decades in gospel music. Her first literary work, "The Good Road," became a best seller.

Paschal's travels in 2009 have taken her into more than 50 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as nearly a dozen European countries. She also hosts her own weekly radio program, "Walking The Good Road," which airs on more than 20 stations, covering six states.

The program focuses on cancer awareness. She also recently hosted the first annual Cancer Walk at the National Quartet Convention, a weeklong southern gospel music festival. Proceeds from the event were presented to the American Cancer Society.
