Church plans annual spring give-away

Putnam Congregational Church, 707 Masonic Park Road, Devola, is planning its annual spring give-away and free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the church.

The give-away will include good, clean, spring and summer clothing, kitchen, home, garden, and yard items usually found in a garage sale. The free lunch includes hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, and cup cakes.

The event is open to everyone.

Open gospel sing to be at Church of God

An open gospel sing will be held at 6 p.m. April 10 at the Church of God, 2011 Camden Ave., Parkersburg (South side). Everyone is welcome to sing.

Gospel meetings at church in Laings

The Laings Church of Christ on Route 255, Laings, Ohio, will have a gospel meeting April 18 to 23 with Tom Miller.

Miller will be preaching Sunday at 9:45 a.m. for Bible class and at 10:30 a.m. for worship, and at 7 p.m. each evening Sunday through Friday.

Miller is retired as an instructor and dean of academics from the East Tennessee School of Preaching in Knoxville, Tenn., and currently preaches for the Greasy Ridge Church of Christ.

Reservations taken for free breakfast

Reservations are being taken for a free community pancake breakfast that will be held 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Norwood United Methodist Church, Colegate Drive and Oakwood Avenue, Marietta.

Pancakes and sausages with juice and coffee will be offered. The Easter Bunny will in attendance to hand out eggs to all the children who attend and parents or grandparents are welcome to bring their cameras to take pictures. There will also be door prizes, the bunny hop and music.

It is asked that those planning to attend call ahead so the kitchen will know how much food to prepare. Call 374-5606 to reserve space. Callers should leave their name, phone number, how many seats they need and the ages of children attending.

Revival services at Fairview Heights

Revival services will be held April 3 at the Fairview Heights Chapel, 115 High St., Marietta.

Services will begin at 7 p.m. with Norman Taylor as the evangelist. There will also be special music.

Gospelaires to sing at River Valley

The Gospelaires will be singing at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, at River Valley Community Church of The Nazarene, 1412 27th Street in Vienna, W.V. Everyone is welcome.

English Tea to be at St. Luke's Episcopal

An English Garden Tea, sponsored by the Episcopal Churchwomen, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April, 17, in the Parish Hall of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 320 Second St., Marietta.

The English Tea will be catered by English trained pastry chef, Gillian Keeley and the menu will include many of her specialties such as scones, shortbread and butterfly cakes. Donna Betts, local naturalist, gardener/farmer and author, will present a program on planting, growing and harvesting your own small or container gardens. There will be door prizes, and a hat contest, although the wearing of a hat is optional. Seating is limited, however, and tickets need to be sold in advance. Contact the church office, (740) 373-5132, or buy your tickets from a church member. Admission is $10.

The tea is sponsored by the ECW to benefit their various outreach projects and the church.

Dinner, live auction at Christ UM?Church

A spaghetti dinner and live auction will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 25, in the fellowship hall at Christ United Methodist Church, corner of Wooster and Third streets, Marietta.

The cost is $5 and free for children age 5 and under. Carry-outs available.

Proceeds to fund the church's mission trip.
