From local reports
The S&P Harley Davidson dealership in Williamstown will be celebrating its grand opening this weekend with a motorcycle rally the business owners hope will become an annual event.
After months of preparation, "Thunder Road Madness" will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the store's property at the top of the Interstate 77 Williamstown exit, according to a release from S&P.
"This is simply an exciting time for us to share a dream that was years in the making," S&P co-owner Patsy Hardy said in the release. "When we purchased the Williamstown property, we always had plans to begin holding 'Thunder Road Madness' and (we're) expecting guests numbering in the thousands."
The weekend's events will include concessions, game shows, charitable events with the local H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) chapter, the S&P Casino, a Ms. S&P Bikini Contest and Mr. S&P Bicep Contest. Local band Titus Canbe will take the stage at 4 p.m. Friday, with Forward Control performing at 8:30. Special guest band The Outlaws will perform at 6 p.m. Saturday.
There will be a drawing for a Harley Davidson V-Rod motorcycle, valued at more than $13,700. Anyone with a wristband ticket for the event is automatically entered.
During the event, the public will be invited to tour the S&P facility, which opened in November.
"The response has been overwhelming within the local motorcycle circles to our upcoming weekend celebration," said Kenny Hardy, with S&P. "Before our official wristband tickets even arrived we had people walking into S&P asking for us to make sure we held a wristband for them. It's going to be a great event."
The cost is $15 for a wristband allowing access to the Friday and Saturday activities. Wristbands can be purchased, in advance, at S&P Harley Davidson or at the event.
The motorcycle rally will conclude on Sunday with a Benefit Run organized by the local H.O.G. chapter, which raises funds to provide scholarships for children in the Mid-Ohio Valley to attend Camp KnoComa, where children learn how to manage juvenile diabetes.
