Leigh Ann (Wittekind) Sargent and Robert Shawn Modesitt were united in marriage on July 17, in a double ring ceremony in a barn on the bride's mother and stepfather's farm in Marietta, with Pastor Doug Stockton officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jean and Al Miller of Marietta, and Doug and Cherie Wittekind of Belpre. She is the granddaughter of Virginia Blosser of Marietta, Cliff and Shirley Blosser of New Matamoras and Delbert and Helen Wittekind of Fleming. She is employed at Nichols Law Office in Marietta.
The bridegroom is the son of Bruce and Carol Modesitt of Longs, South Carolina. He is the grandson of the late Carl and Garnetta Jenkins and the late Edward and Norma Modesitt. He is the general manager at the Marietta Bob Evans.
The bride wore a strapless, custom, natural ivory dress with latte accents, that laced up the back with a latte embroidered train. She carried a bouquet of cream carnations, latte lilies, chocolate hydrangeas and celedon green peonies. The bridegroom wore a chocolate brown tux with a latte vest and chocolate tie.
Matron of Honor was Elizabeth White. Bridesmaids were Melissa Treadway, Christi Alleman and Robin Starkey. They wore tea length celedon green dresses with chocolate brown accents. The flower girl was Lauren Modesitt, daughter of the groom. She wore an ivory, embellished dress with a celedon green embroidered train, with a celedon green and ivory flower headpiece.
Best man was Rodney Modesitt, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Trip Mildren, Chuck Duncan and Craig Little. The Junior Groomsman was Caleb Sargent, son of the bride. He also carried the rings. They wore chocolate brown tuxes with celedon green vests and chocolate ties.
Whitney Miller and Cassie Blosser,cousins of the bride, registered the guests. Chris Blosser,cousin of the bride, was the Usher. Chelsea Potaracke, cousin of the bride, played the violin during the ceremony.
A dinner and reception followed in the barn.
After taking their kids to Kalahari Resort after the wedding, then a honeymoon in the mountains of West Virginia, the couple will reside at their house in Marietta.
