Rebecca Dawn Smithberger and David Lee Hughes Jr. were united in marriage on Oct. 9, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Marietta. Pastor Steven Mahaffey officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Janet Brown of Marietta and Ronald Smithberger Jr. of Reno, Ohio. She is the granddaughter of Ronald and Carolyn Smithberger Sr. of Newport, Ohio, Marcia Beardmore of Marietta, and the late Philip Beardmore. She is a 2003 graduate of Warren High School, Vincent, Ohio.
The bridegroom is the son of David and Brenda Hughes Sr. of Devola. He is the grandson of Dorothy Hill of Devola, Larry Hughes, of Belpre, Thomas Colby, Sr., of Canton, Ohio, and Dora Studer, also of Canton. He is a 1999 graduate of Marietta High School. He is employed with the Holiday Inn in Marietta.
The bride wore a white satin halter ball gown with pick-up skirt, with a chocolate sash around her waist and a tiara embellished with pearls.
The maid of honor was Jessica Parsons, of Marietta. Bridesmaids were Robin Adams, Kayla Myers, Dusti Tucker, all of Marietta, Denise Shrader, of Reno, and Trista Hughes, of Belpre. The flower girl was Mercedez Hughes, daughter of the bridegroom.
The best man was Shawn Lightfritz, of Marietta. The groomsmen and ushers were Jacob Hughes, Nathan Canfield, Daniel Burton, Logan Shrader, all of Marietta, and Jonathan Hughes of Belpre. The ring bearer was David Hughes III, son of the groom.
A dinner and dance reception followed the ceremony at the Masonic Park Lodge in Devola.
