William F.and Barbara I. Friese of Rockport, W.Va. celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 11. They were married in LeBanan, Va. on March 11,1961, by the Rev. James A. Shugart.
He is the son of the late Merritt F. and Laura A. Friese of Parkersburg. She is the daughter of the late Clifton E. and Eva I. VanFossen of Parkersburg.
The couple have three children: Rhonda (Charles) Owens of Rockport, W.Va., Christopher (Jamie) Friese of Rockport, and the late William A. Friese. They also have 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He is a retired employee of 37 years at Washington Works i.e. DuPont, is an avid bowler, and enjoys hunting. She was an employee of the Dils Brothers and of Kroger's bakery, maintains an active lifestyle, enjoys bird watching and gardening.
The couple plan a small celebration with immediate family members at the time of their anniversary, but also plan a large celebration including friends and other acquaintances when the weather permits.
