The third-floor gallery of the Hermann Fine Arts Center on the Marietta College campus is filled with artwork, and the public is invited to see it.
The college's Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition opened Feb. 18 and will remain open through March 19.
A wide variety of art, including paintings, drawings, ceramics, digital images, photography and mixed media, is featured in the show. All of the work featured was created by students at the college.

Marietta College senior Chelsea Broderick holds “Farworld Sleep Tea” packaging she created in her senior design class. The design earned her the best in show award for the college’s Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition, which will be on display at the college through March 19.
"Every spring, students submit work that they've done in the last year - the work has to be completed in one of our classes here in art or design," explained Jolene Powell, assistant professor of art at Marietta College. "Each student can submit up to six pieces for consideration, and all of the (art department) faculty, we all get together and select about 50 percent of what was submitted."
Powell said the pieces chosen were judged by Abby Hayhurst, the director of the Parkersburg Art Center, and Andy Hall, a graphic designer at Stonewall Marketing in Marietta.
Winners in best painting, best graphic design, best 2D, best 3D/solid design and overall best in show categories received $25 gift certificates for area businesses.
"The students also vote and choose a student choice award, then the president and provost of the college come over and choose a piece for the president's choice award and provost's choice award," Powell said.
Senior Chelsea Broderick, 22, of Hudson won the best in show award for the "Farworld Sleep Tea" packaging she created in her senior design class.
"We came up with a self-driven, semester-long project with the theme of 'transition'," she said. "I wanted to explore the transition from consciousness to sleep, the real world to the dream world, and through my research discovered that ancient Egypt had rich and fascinating dream traditions.
"I decided to use Egyptian imagery and mythology to create a brand of tea that is totally different from most tea products you could buy in stores," Broderick said.
Junior Melanie Boyd of Cross Lanes, W.Va., has three pieces displayed in the show. One of them is a Halloween-themed movie collection she created in her junior design 1 class. Boyd said it took her about eight weeks to create it.
"I picked five movies and created a box, DVD case covers, inserts and DVD labels for them," she said. "My project included a black-and-white box, which looks like a haunted house, as well as crayons, so that kids could color the box and keep the set together."
She also designed labels for a "Melvin's Texas Grill" spice collection, which she described as having a "fun Western theme".
Boyd, a graphic design major, said she also had artwork accepted into the exhibition her freshman and sophomore years of college. She said the show is something she looks forward to every year.
"It gives me a chance to see what other classes are doing," Boyd said. "There are so many different types of art that are created here at Marietta College, and it is wonderful to see them all come together in one awesome show."
Powell described the show as a "healthy competition".
"The students tend to come to the opening to support their friends even if they didn't get something of theirs in," she said.
Corryn Muench, a junior from Newport, Ky., has three pieces in the show. One is packaging she created for "Oodles" noodle spice in her design class.
"I really like this exhibition because it gives people from the whole college a chance to showcase their talents, and I think it's really cool when you see someone from another major have a beautiful piece hanging on the wall," she said.
