The No. 11-ranked Marietta College men's basketball team staged a second half rally to defeat Wittenberg University, 63-62, in a second-round NCAA Division III Tournament game at sold out, standing room only Ban Johnson Arena Saturday night.
The Pioneers (27-3) trailed the Tigers, 34-27, at the break.
MC freshman Tyler Hammond scored what proved to be the game-winner with six seconds remaining on a full court dash to the basket. Wittenberg, which led for most of the contest, then attempted a desperation shot but it came up short.

Marietta will now advance and play top-ranked Whitworth (Wash.), a 77-63 winner over Chapman Saturday night, in the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 at a place and time to be determined Sunday.
