Philip D. and Nancy Dekker Tjapkes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 6. They were married May 6, 1961, at the Dearborn Christian Reformed parsonage in Dearborn, Mich. They were longtime western Michigan residents before moving to Marietta in 1999.
They are the parents of four children: Anita (Mark) Curtis; Becki (Randy) Fisher of Muskegon, Mich.; David (Delynne) Tjapkes of Osceola, Ind.; and John (Angela) Tjapkes of Irons, Mich., formerly of Marietta. They have 10 grandchildren, including Wyatt and Olivia Tjapkes, formerly of Marietta. They have two great-grandchildren and two more expected this summer.
He is retired from Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, Mich. She is retired from Marietta Memorial Hospital and is currently employed by Havar, Inc.
The couple plan to celebrate their anniversary with an open house later in the month in Muskegon, Mich. with family and friends.
