Hundreds of teddy bears will be heading out Saturday for a scenic ride in the country on the back of 50 motorcycles.
Marietta Memorial Hospital and Hometown Honda, the local chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders, has scheduled their 17th annual Teddy Bear Run to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday to benefit the Marietta Area Teddy Bear Fund.
The Teddy Bear Run will begin at Hometown Honda, on Pike Street, travel along the scenic roads of Washington County and end at Marietta Memorial Hospital with refreshments and a 50/50 drawing for the riders. Teddy bear donations will then be presented to a representative of The Marietta Area Teddy Bear Fund.
The Marietta Area Teddy Bear Fund provides more than 1,000 stuffed animals annually to every child, aged six months to 12 years, when they are admitted to either Marietta Memorial or Selby General Hospitals.
The public is invited to participate in the run and all makes of motorcycles are welcome. There is no fee to participate, however, each rider is expected to purchase a new teddy bear to take on the run and donate to the fund.
