Court considers dismissal of Ohio judge's charges

CINCINNATI (AP) — A judge plans to rule next month on whether to dismiss criminal charges against an Ohio juvenile court judge accused of misusing county credit cards and backdating court documents.

A Hamilton County judge in Cincinnati heard testimony on the issue Wednesday from special prosecutors and the attorney for county Juvenile Court Judge Tracie Hunter. She has pleaded not guilty to felony charges, including tampering with evidence, forgery and theft in office.

Hunter's motion seeking dismissal of charges says the special prosecutors chosen for her case are attorneys who once represented county Prosecutor Joe Deters in an investigation and there may be a conflict of interest.

Prosecutors didn't immediately return calls Wednesday.

Judge Norbert Nadel (NAY'-dul) says he will rule on that motion and others July 15.
