Right Path ready for summer

May 28, 2011
The Marietta Times

The Right Path for Washington County is gearing up for our seventh summer of safe teen events, open to sixth- through 12th-graders, Washington County and surrounding areas.

Summer opens with our second annual fish fry fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, Veterans of Foreign Post, 5108 Pike St. This event will help offset the cost of our very busy summer of teen dances and family swim nights that officially begin on June 7. Bruce Haas and Mike Starkey of Titus Canbe will provide our live entertainment and 102.1 The River will be on hand promoting our event. We will have a silent auction with many items including a gift card from Baker & Baker Jewelers, Cincinnati Reds tickets, Pirates tickets, Indians tickets, Canaan Valley Get-way, man's watch and several other items. You won't want to miss this event. For $10 per person, you can enjoy the tastiest fish around or hot dogs are available for the no-fish crowd. Tickets are available at 374-6990 or at the VFW.

Teen dances kickoff on June 7 at the Gathering Place on Marietta College Campus. Dances will be held from June 7 through Aug. 2, 7 to 10 p.m., $5/student, $4/student ID. This venue is a great way to hang with friends, listen to music and get on the dance floor. Mobile Jams Entertainment will have your favorite tunes and refreshments are available. Chaperones are needed and fun is guaranteed.

Teen and family swim nights begin Friday, June 10, through Aug. 5. A great way to spend some quality family time together and get a great rate from the city of Marietta: $3 per person, $12 for a family. You can also enjoy a live radio remote, play games and take a chance on some prizes. Come back to the MAC (Marietta Aquatic Center) for another great summer of family nights.

An addition this summer is a foam party at the Belpre Homecoming. Foam, fun and tunes will happen at Howes Grove Park from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. Join us as we celebrate with our friends in Belpre.

Wrap up summer with our biggest event - our seventh annual block party. Always lots of fun with food, family, friends, music, swimming, Time Well Wasted inflatable's and lots of foam - 6 feet of it thanks to Mobile Jams Entertainment! From 6 to 8 p.m., we are back at the MAC, then in the parking lot from 8 to 11 p.m. The cost is $5 per person. You won't want to miss out on the fun. All ages are welcome!

Looking for something for your teen and family to be part of this summer? Join the Right Path as we celebrate our youth and families.

Thanks to our many partners: Marietta College, The Right Path for Washington County, Washington State, Washington County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Board, our schools, our service clubs, the city of Marietta, city of Belpre, area chambers of commerce, United Way, Clear Channel, WMOA, Marietta Times, Anchor, Time Well Wasted, Mobile Jams, Mike Bishman, VFW, and the youth and families who participate in our promotion of healthy youth development.
