New tenant at Front Street deli location

June 20, 2011
The Marietta Times

From staff reports

The Front Street Deli closed its doors Saturday to make way for a new tenant, Sasha's Bistro and Bakery, that will open at the 174 Front St. location Saturday, June 25.

Promanco has leased the building to Sasha Henry, a Parkersburg native who has a distinguished history, most recently as the executive sous chef at the Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg.

She was trained at the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute and has practiced and taught culinary courses ranging from the mother sauces to sushi to charcuterie. Henry says she's excited to become part of the retail renaissance happening in historic Marietta.

Sasha's Bistro will bring some fresh takes on the classics and some new, unexpected fare for breakfast and lunch such as a variety of gourmet oatmeal selections laden with cranberries, toasted almonds and brown sugar, and ethnic food, such as the pride of Buffalo, New York's "Beef on Weck."

She will use local ingredients as much as possible as a proponent of the "farm to fork" trend that is all the rage today in the restaurant world.

Sasha's Bistro will also offer a wide variety of fresh baked goods, a full menu of espresso drinks served hot or cold, and house-made gelato-a delicious and healthy form of Italian ice cream.

"I am thrilled to be able to offer to residents and visitors alike a variety of fabulous foods and beverages," Henry said. "I love to create new flavors from local ingredients as they become available seasonally. I hope everybody gives us a try."
