Larry K. and Sharon L. Slater are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 25, 1961, at the Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Paul Whipple.
She is the daughter of the late Winnifred (Murray) McGrath and the late Bernard A. McGrath of McConnelsville.
He is the son of the late John L. Slater of the Plains and Canonsburg, Pa., and Hazel (Crum) Slater of Betsy Layne, Ky. and Canonsburg, Pa.
He is a retired secondary administrator of Marietta City Schools.
She is the former owner of Sharon's Ms. Roberts of Marietta and Cambridge. She is currently a fashion consultant for Doncaster of North Carolina.
The couple are the parents of two children: Julia (Jeffery) Hammons of Marietta; and Jeffrey Kent Slater, deceased. They are the grandparents of Jared K. and Justin L. Hammons of Marietta.
The couple celebrated with a cruise on the Allure of the Seas to the southern Caribbean in February.
An open house in their honor is being held at the home of Dr. Jeffery and Julie Hammons on June 26.
