50th: Roger, Susan Newsom

Susan and Roger Newsom celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering hosted by their children and spouses at their home at 1850 Ohio 83, Beverly, on Sunday, June 26, with all of their children and grandchildren in attendance.

She is the former Susan Croy of McConnelsville. They were married on June 29, 1961. He is the son of the late Stanley and Geraldine Newsom of Malta and she is the daughter of the late Roy and Gertrude Croy of McConnelsville.

The couple have twin sons, Ronald (Lorie) Newsom of the Beverly area and Richard (Tammy) Newsom of the Cincinnati area. They also helped raise their nephew, Kevin (Anita) Newsom of the Logan area. They have eight grandchildren: Michael (Amy) French, Nicole Newsom, Karissa Newsom, Noah Newsom, Shelby Newsom, Mattie Newsom and Andrew Newsom and Erin Newsom and her guest, Nick Brown, of Athens also attended.

They were both teachers in the Zanesville City Schools and the Fort Frye Local Schools until their retirements. She taught at McKinley and Westview in Zanesville and Beverly Elementary at Fort Frye. He taught at Lincoln and McIntire in Zanesville and at Lowell and Center at Fort Frye. She has also been a consultant and a director with Mary Kay Cosmetics for the past 26 years. He has been a local beekeeper for the past 35 years. They are both active members of Smith's Chapel United Methodist Church near Hackney.
