Sheila Gilchrist and Kendal Bates, both of Birmingham, Ala., announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
She is the daughter of Alison Gilchrist of Marietta and Wayne Gilchrist of Sharpsburg, Ohio.
She bride-to-be is a graduate of Federal Hocking High School, a graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Miami, Fla., a graduate of Ohio University and is currently attending Tiffin University for her master's degree. She is employed by Birmingham Airport Authority as an operations supervisor.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Gloria A. Bates and the late Jimmy D. Bates of Liberty, Miss.
He is a graduate of Amite School Center in Liberty, Miss., a graduate of Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, Miss., a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss., and is attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. He is currently Commander of Aircraft Maintenance Operations, 117th Air Refueling Wing, Alabama Air National Guard.
The wedding is being planned for Nov. 12 at Huckleberry Farm in Jasper, Ala.
