Barlow Fair Board

Petitions are available for four vacant seats on the Barlow Fair Board. The terms are for three years.

Petitions are available by contacting Secretary Pat Amrine at 984-2554 or at the next fair board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the dining hall on the fairgrounds. Those running must be Washington County residents. Each petition must state which term the candidates is seeking and requires at least 10 signatures from members.

Petitions must be turned in by 6 p.m. Sept. 17. The election will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 in the coon hunters building on the fairgrounds. The terms begin Nov. 8.

Morning Rotary holds cruise, auction

Marietta Morning Rotary is sponsoring a cruise/auction to benefit Harvest of Hope. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 30 aboard the Valley Gem. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased from Morning Rotarians. The sunset cruise will include hors d'oeuvres, cash bar and silent and live auctions. All proceeds will benefit Harvest of Hope. Donation of items are needed for both auctions.

Family Nutrition

Ohio State University Extension's Family Nutrition Program, "Adding a Little Spice and Herbs" will be offered throughout September. Cindy Styer, Family Nutrition program assistant, will be at the following libraries on the listed date and time: Belpre on Monday at 1:30 p.m.; Barlow on Thursday at 1 p.m.; Marietta on Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.; New Matamoras on Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m.; and Beverly on Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m.

Adding spices and herbs to foods can help Americans reduce sodium, solid fats, and added sugars. Several spices and herbs will be available to smell and taste.

Ballroom dance Sept. 18 at Post 64

A ballroom dance will be held Sept. 18 at American Legion Post 64, Eighth and Wooster streets in Marietta, featuring Ballroom DJ Sandi Elam.

The dance is from 2 to 5 p.m. Reservations are not required. The cost is $10 per person, cash only.
