Carl and Evelyn Hartley will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Oct. 16. They were married on Oct. 16, 1971, at The Central Christian Church in Quaker City, Ohio, by the Rev. William Worcester.
His parents were the late Ralph and Virginia Hartley of Quaker City, and her parents were the late Alva and Pauline Christman, also of the Quaker City area.
They have two daughters: Susanna (Chris) Shelton of Bloomington, Ind., and Stacey Wise of Marietta. The couple have three grandchildren: Tyler Wise of Marietta; and Emma and Elizabeth Shelton of Bloomington.
He works for the Marietta City Schools and she is retired from Verizon in Parkersburg.
The couple took a trip to Renfro Valley, Ky. to celebrate.
