What do music, mime, the circus and science have in common? They are all elements of Garry Krinsky's "Toying with Science" program.
The Massachusetts native and former street performer will bring his free act to Washington State Community College at 2 p.m. Saturday as he tours the country bringing entertainment and science together to wow audiences of all ages. The program is the final program this fall of the Evergreen Arts and Humanities Series.
"This is our children's show for the season," said Tanya Wilder, chair and director of the program. "We expect a big turnout. There aren't really too many venues in the area that are especially for children's performances."
Created in 1995, "Toying with Science" has toured the U.S. and Canada and Krinsky has appeared on many well-known stages as well as on NBC's "Today Show," according to his management company's website.
Combining circus skills, mime, original music and audience involvement, Krinsky and the audience investigate the scientific principles of gravity, leverage, fulcrums and simple machines.
"As my background is in mime, juggling, music and physical comedy, I approach science in a rather unique way," Krinsky said in an email to The Marietta Times. "We'll explore gravity, simple machines and how to learn step-by-step. There will be lots of audience participation, loads of fun and learning a thing or two won't hurt, either."

Wilder said the show is for all ages and seats will most likely fill up quickly.

Other series performances this year will include National Banjo Champion Steven Moore and friends, Icho Daiko Japanese Taiko Drumming, The Rain Crows, featuring local musicians and the Cashore Marionettes.
"We've had really good attendance this year for the series and we anticipate filling the house for the rest of the year," Wilder said.
