Holiday events planned for The Castle in Marietta

The Castle will offer three different holiday programs this weekend and into early December at 418 Fourth St. in Marietta.

The first event is a gingerbread house decorating workshop from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The registration fee is $15, which includes all materials, including candy, as well as an instruction booklet with templates.

Since the activity will be held in the summer kitchen of The Castle, seating is limited and reservations should be made by calling 373-4180. Parking is on Fourth or Wooster streets.

The Castle's Holiday Salon Concert Series will feature "Spanish Dance," presented by the Trillium Piano Trio, from 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 27.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Reservations are available by calling 373-4180.

The program will feature an afternoon of music, information and Victorian desserts. The Trillium Trio's Spanish dance might be French, German, Russian, Italian, Mexican, Argentine or Spanish in origin. The shared quality of this music is its compelling and vigorous rhythm.

Victorian Christmas Tours at The Castle will be 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 4 and 11, with the second date coinciding with the annual Betsey Mills Club Christmas Tour of Homes.

Tickets for the Dec. 4 tour will be $7, while the Dec. 11 Tour of Homes tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

The Castle will be decorated in Victorian style, with holiday refreshments and musical entertainment. Visitors will learn the history behind some of longstanding Christmas traditions.

On Dec. 11, The Trillium Trio, as well as violin and cello students, will be performing at various times throughout the day. The Castle will be one of seven stops on the Tour of Homes. Refreshments will be served in the Summer Kitchen at the conclusion of the tour.
