Development officer appointed at OVU

VIENNA, W.Va. - Ohio Valley University has announced that Caldwell native Brent Smith has been appointed as the university's development officer.

Smith reports directly to the university's vice president for advancement and works directly in support of the school's fundraising efforts. He will work to convey the university's vision and mission to current and future donors.

Smith most recently served as director of housing and rehabilitation for Guernsey, Monroe and Noble Counties Community Action Corporation (GMN Tri-County CAC) in southeastern Ohio. In that position he oversaw 35 field and four office workers. Prior to his work at GMN Tri-County CAC, he was a consultant specializing in community and economic development. In that role he was involved in planning and developing funding scenarios, as well as researching, developing, and writing funding proposals.

Smith and his wife, Susan, attend the Crum Ridge Church of Christ in Caldwell, Ohio, where he serves as deacon and preaches from time to time. The couple has two children, Ethan, 18, and Emily, 14.
