Greg and Vikki Herwald celebrated their 40th anniversary on Dec. 26, 2011, with close family members at home. A family ski trip is planned for later this winter.
They were married Dec. 26, 1971, in Olympia Fields, Ill., at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church.
She taught in Wood County Schools and was a long time volunteer with St. Mark's Nursery School in Belpre, Black Diamond Girl Scouts, Allohak Boy Scouts and Belpre City Schools. She is currently a substitute teacher for Belpre City Schools.
He retired from Gress Equipment in Marietta in 2001, after 27 years with Deere & Company and as a John Deere dealer. He was a basketball official for 10 years, announced football and basketball for Belpre High School, and spent many years coaching Little League baseball, softball and basketball. He is currently a substitute teacher for Warren Local Schools.
They are the parents of two children, Audra (Kyle) Schlegel of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kyle (fiancee Angela) of Vienna, W.Va. They have one granddaughter, Madeline Schlegel.
