Melissa Gail Carpenter and James Ryan Scarberry were united in marriage on Nov. 11, 2011, at half past five in the evening at Harmony Baptist Church in Parkersburg. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Don Yeager. Music for the ceremony was provided by Sandy Rice. The bride's parents hosted a dinner reception at the Comfort Suites in Mineral Wells. On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Lubeck Civic Center in Lubeck.
The bride is the daughter of Jeffrey and Sandra Carpenter of Washington. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Dorothy Nickell of Summerville, S.C. and Richard and Marcia Carpenter, both of Lewisburg.
The bridegroom is the son of James and Betty Jo Scarberry of Kenna. He is the grandson of Dorean Anderson of Kenna and the late Johnnie C. Anderson.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and given in marriage by her family. Leigh Ann Swigger served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Ashleigh Burton, Cynthia Pugh, Brittany Winland, and Kristen Lockhart.
Robbie Hamilton served as the best man. Groomsman included Mike Summers, Dustin Lewis, Patrick McCafferty and Mark Carpenter, brother of the bride. The ring bearer was Colby Carpenter, cousin of the bride. Megan Dillon and Marshall Fields served as honor attendants.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Charleston with a bachelor's degree in radiologic science. She is employed at CAMC Memorial Hospital as a radiologic technologist.
The bridegroom is a 2005 graduate of Ripley High School. He is employed by BBU Services of West Virginia.
Following a honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple resides in Kenna, W. Va.
