On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Frontier FFA took four students to the District 10 Public Speaking Career Development Events at Sheridan High School. Christen Canter, a sophomore and second year Ag student, captured first place in beginning prepared public speaking with her speech entitled "It's Not Just Cows and Plows Anymore." Kayla McGregor placed second in the district in the Advanced Prepared category with her speech entitled, "Is Bigger and Better Always Better?" McGregor is Frontier FFA's chapter president and is a senior at Frontier. Tyler Gutberlet, a sophomore at Frontier, competed in the speaking and finished second place with a 4- to 6-minute speech on soil conservation. Hillary Handschumaker performed in the creed speaking career development event and took a bronze emblem.
Canter, McGregor, and Gutberlet placed in the top two in their events which entitles them to advance to the state competitions in March which take place in Columbus at The Ohio State University campus.
