After finishing cosmetology school and esthetics school, Caldwell resident Heather Dillon hoped to do makeup on Broadway actors and actresses.
Instead, she ended up working in the offices of dermatologists and plastic surgeons, doing makeup for those who had skin cancer removed and MicroPlaning, a clinical skin care treatment.
She moved to the Marietta area 10 years ago and currently works at the Wellness 360 Comprehensive Lifestyle Center and Natural Remedies Spa in Vienna, providing a variety of services to clients.
Q: What do you do at the Wellness 360 Comprehensive Lifestyle Center?
A: What I do here is diabetic pedicures. The thing that makes it different for diabetic pedicures is everything is double sanitized and also everything is thrown away after use. They can get an infection very easily. I also do facials, many kinds. I do a purity facial which is for someone who has acne or troubled skin. I also do brow threading where you use a piece of regular thread and make a bow tie and thread it through the eyebrow and the thread pulls the hair out. It's popular in bigger cities.
Q: Is there any particular service you do that is more popular than the others?
A: I probably do more facials than anything here. The recommendation for a facial is every four weeks.
Q: What do you see as the future of the industry you're in?
A: I think they're sick of always taking pills and all the side effects from this stuff and they're going back to the natural, holistic care and the vitamins and minerals. People are looking for something else other than paying $200 a month for a prescription. They're looking for something healthier.
Q: What is your favorite part about your job?
A: My favorite part would be meeting different people. With my job, I make people feel better about themselves. For 20 some years I've been in this business and I love it and the reason being I get to make others happy with what I do.
