Earl and Justine Tornes of Waterford are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on May 5. They were united in marriage at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell by the Rev. James McMahon. She is the daughter of the late George and Mildred Lang and he is the son of the late Alfred and Hilda Tornes.
They couple have six children: Carel (Ellyn) of Dallas, Texas, Neil (Cindy) of The Villages, Fla., Ronald (Susan) of Vincent, Dean (Jeri) of Marietta, Patrick (Patricia) of Beverly, and Mary (Douglas) Parks of Waterford.
The have 12 grandchildren: Michael, Adam (Becky), Kelly, Ivan (Laura), Eric (Elisha), Andrew, Andrea, and Kimberly Tornes, Sarah (Dan) Richards, Megan Fisher, Rachel (Derrick) Schott, and Courtney Parks.
They also have two great-grandchildren: Dylan and Ella Tornes.
He is retired from B.F. Goodrich and RJF of Marietta. In 1865 the couple started Sunny Hill Gardens Greenhouses where they still serve customers.
