The Marietta Area Community Tennis Association (MACTA) is introducing a new format for its youth tennis program this summer.
The new format offers greater flexibility to accommodate family vacations, as well as the opportunity for more court time for the kids.
Six meetings per month (with a total of 18 meetings if all sessions are taken) will be offered instead of six meetings per summer, as in the past, allowing children not only the opportunity to take family vacations, but to participate in the tennis program without interruption.

The kids at last summer's tennis program are in the ready mode, set to play tennis.
Participants can sign up for one monthly session, or two sessions, or for all three, with a discount offered for multiple sessions.
The tennis program is open to boys and girls of all skill levels, ages six through 10.
The program uses scaled down courts and smaller racquets along with low compression tennis balls to allow more success for the children.
This approach stresses the importance of play and team competition, encouraging the children to have fun playing with their friends while developing skills that will become the foundation of their tennis game.
Sportsmanship is stressed throughout the program.
MACTA is a local non-profit organization of community volunteers whose mission is to promote the sport of tennis in the local Marietta area.
Monthly sessions will be offered this summer:
Each meeting will be a 60-minute practice/play and will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings, from 6 - 7 and 7:15 - 8:15. Make-up weather days, if necessary, will also be held on Mondays and/or Thursdays.
Meeting times may be adjusted for weather make-ups.
All play will take place at the Lookout Park courts on Harmar Hill, located behind the Lancaster Street fire station.
Parking is available at Lookout Park.
The June session registration will close May 20 and other session registrations will close seven days prior to the start of the session. Cost is $50 for one six meeting monthly session. Cost of 2 sessions is $90 and 3 sessions is $125.
All participants will receive a T-shirt and a tennis ball.
Racquets will not be provided, but can be purchased separately on a first come, first serve basis.
Payment may be made by check or money order, payable to MACTA.
